Therefore, three candles remain lighted, one for each of you and one for your marriage as symbols of you commitment to a lasting and loving marriage. Rather you create, through your commitment, the relationship of marriage. Officiant: You come into this marriage relationship as individuals and you do not lose your identity. It also represents the joining together of your two families and your two sets of friends. Officiant: Lighting the center candle with both tapers turns it into a Unity Candle which demonstrate to us, in a very beautiful way, the symbolism of two who become one. The two individual candles represent your lives before today your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. Officiant: _(Groom)_ and _(Bride)_ your mothers have lit the two taper candles for the Unity Candle Ceremony. (The mothers come forward and light the taper candles. Officiant: Will the mothers please step forward and light the taper candles. On the Ceremony Table there is a larger center candle with two taper candles on either side.) (The volume of the music may be turned up as the Couple each takes a taper candle and lights the center candle together. Officiant: You may now light the Unity Candle.
